Hotel Advokat
Baaderstrasse 1
"Minimalist decor meets maximum service.
REVIEW
The plain facade of a former 1960s workers' home conceals what was
Munich's first boutique hotel (opened in 1998). Its ambience, lightness and
simplicity makes it a great fit for modern travellers with a penchant for
uncluttered design and unpretentious, caring service.
The Advokat is the brainchild of Kevin Voigt, whose years in the hotel
business have taught him what guests truly want in a hotel: comfortable
beds, a minibar stocked with complimentary drinks and a fantastic breakfast.
Expect an orgasmic bounty of fresh fruit, deli salads, smoked salmon,
organic cheeses and other palate-pleasers, all beautifully arranged on a
giant table. The 54 rooms are minimalist, dressed in warm creams and whites,
with tactile fabrics and subtle lighting. Playful perks abound. A polished
apple balances on the pillow. A single fresh flower brightens the
nightstand. Framed photographs grace the walls. Rooms are snug, but many
have a private balcony. Views are best from the rooftop terrace, a cosy spot
where you can wind down from the day. The lobby-lounge has piles of
newspapers and complimentary sherry and nibbles.
